Non-Profit No-Kill Cat Rescue

We save cats

The Humane Society of South Brevard rescues stray and abandoned cats in our community.  With zero federal, state or local government support, we work to find homes for all we can, and the rest are sheltered and loved forever. We always need volunteers, materials and funds to support our mission. Won’t you please help?

Save a Cat

Adopting a CAT

Adopting a cat is an easy and rewarding way to enhance your mental and physical health in one easy step. Studies show people who own cats are happier, calmer, more balanced, more productive and more financially successful than non-cat-owners. A cat can help lower your stress and anxiety while you help lower the number of homeless pets in your community.

Making a Donation

We have an amazing group of volunteers who keep the shelter purring smoothly, but expenses beyond labor keep us begging for support for our mission of love, shelter and care for surrendered, abandoned and stray cats. It costs about $500 per year per cat to shelter rescued felines with the housing and care they need to thrive. Won’t you please contribute if you can?

What we do

Our Services

Rescuing Cats

We love cats. We don’t kill them. That’s why we rescue and shelter stray/abandoned cats.

Cat Licensing

By law, cats must be licensed to ensure compliance with vaccination laws. We’ll help!

Finding Cats a Home

The best scenario is for every cat to find a home. This is our mission at HSSB.

Spay & Neuter

Key to population management is spaying and neutering. Cats are sterilized upon adoption.

What Drives Us

Our Mission

It shall be the mission of the Humane Society of South Brevard to rescue, shelter, and place homeless cats in loving homes, to care for all those sheltered until they find homes or until the end of the ninth life, and to secure the support necessary to continue, improve and build services in our community.

What Drives You?

Your Mission

So what about you? Do you have a mission? Whether you hope to save one cat, or save them all, we can all help in ways however big or small.

Get Involved

If you have a love for cats and some time, we’d love for you to become a Humane Society of South Brevard volunteer! Choose to work with cats inside the shelter, help with facility management and maintenance, or work outside the shelter, rescuing cats, promoting awareness at local events, and helping to place cats and kittens in new homes.

Cat Adoption Notes

Adopting VS Buying

There are hundreds of thousands of homeless kittens and cats in the U.S., and, for whatever reason, people are still buying cats from breeders.

We certainly wouldn’t want to disparage any breeders. When a family adopts a breed, sometimes only that breed will do. But the truth is, a mixed breed cat has fewer medical and behavioral issues than many pure-bred cats.

How to Find the Perfect Cat

The best way to find the perfect cat is to let the cat find you. Many times, people adopt cats because the cats adopted them first. It’s true. And you know it.

The second best way to find a perfect cat  is to visit our shelter. We list many of our cats on Petfinder.com, however there are many other warm and wonderful felines awaiting you in the shelter.
